First established in Cavan, Ireland, in 1977, Kyte Powertech has grown into a market leader. Now part of the R&S Group, we are driven by innovation and a commitment to meeting customer needs. With decades of expertise, we specialise in designing and delivering high-quality distribution transformers and power solutions for a wide range of energy applications.
Our products are the backbone of critical energy systems, in utility networks powering homes, schools and businesses, in renewable energy wind, solar, tidal, battery storage, in transportation EV charging stations, rail, marine, in manufacturing, in healthcare, hospitals and pharmaceuticals, in infrastructure projects.
Operating from our 12,000 sqm facility, we have established a robust production system capable of producing 16,000 distribution transformers annually, representing a total annual output of approximately 15,000 MVA. Our commitment to innovation, product development, and continuous improvement gives us both the strength and agility to meet the growing demands of the energy industry. It enables us to play our part in the push towards low-carbon networks.
As a trusted global supplier, we adhere to international standards (IEC, ANSI, BS, EN12) and are ideally located to serve key markets in Ireland, the UK, and beyond. Backed by the strength and global reach of the R&S Group, Kyte Powertech combines local expertise with international support to deliver reliable, future-ready transformer solutions.

Products
Kyte Powertech designs and manufactures high-quality distribution transformers for utilities, industrial, and renewable energy applications. Our solutions are designed to optimise efficiency, minimise energy waste, and deliver reliable performance across various sectors. Trusted by industries worldwide, our product range meets the highest international standards (IEC, ANSI, BS, EN12).

Three-Phase UK Specification Transformers
With the UK being one of our most prominent markets, Kyte Powertech has extensive experience in supply of both the UK industrial sector and renewables sectors while also holding a multitude of frameworks with the UK Distribution Network Operators. Offering thousands of these products to the UK each year, we are focussed on offering the customer what is best for their desired application while also catering to necessary requirements Product range: Ratings of 50kVA up to 10MVA

Special Transformers
In addition to standard transformer types for distribution applications, Kyte Powertech also builds special transformers for various applications. These nonstandard types in electrical and/or mechanical characteristics, are the result of extensive product development based on constant monitoring and evaluation of changing customer needs in the various market segments. In some cases, special customer requirements have also led to the development of a new product with its own characteristics. Special transformer types: The Kyte Powertech unit’s product range includes the following special distribution transformers, although this list is not exhaustive: >> dual voltage transformers >> amorphous metal distribution transformers (AMDT) >> compact substations >> auto-transformers >> rectifier transformers >> converter transformers >> generator transformers >> earthing transformers >> phase shifters >> mono and tri-mono transformers >> transformers with special cable boxes (filled with air or oil) >> transformers with forced cooling (by means of fans and/or heat-exchanger) >> transformers with integrated protecting (fuses) >> COMPACT and Bio-COMPACT transformers (very compact high temperature transformers) Product range: • On Request

Package Substations
A modular distribution center (MDC) is a compact conventional substation typically placed directly in areas of load growth. The current concept of a MDC substation consists of a small or medium power transformer (ranging from 5 MVA up to 60MVA), with primary voltages in the range of 12.47 kV to 161 kV, and low voltages between 34.5kV and down to 400V, with de-energized (DETC) or on-load (OLTC) tap changer. This concept includes enclosed or outside switchgear, such as fuses, load break switches, reclosers, circuit breakers, and protection and control devices such as surge arresters and control relays. With the ability to have its own auxiliary power feeding off a potential transformer, the solution reduces greatly the footprint of your commonly large, fenced in conventional substation, while providing the same functionality. Product range: • Ratings of 50kVA up to 3150kVA

Pad Mount Transformers
Kyte Powertech Padmount transformers are mineral oil or Envirotemp™ FR3™ fluid filled and are manufactured in accordance to the latest applicable ANSI/NEMA/IEEE standards. The transformers are specially designed to address the utility and industrial market concern for reliability. The transformers are available with live front or dead front HV terminals for application in a radial feed or loop feed grid configuration. Product range: • up to 10MVA

Three Phase Transformers
Kyte Powertech produces many thousands of three phase ground mount transformers every year. Three phase transformers are designed to supply electric power to three-phase systems. These electrical devices have three circuit conductors and may or may not have a neutral wire. Three phase power is used by electric power distribution grids and to power large motors and other large loads. Kyte Powertech offers a unique design with improved impulse withstand and short circuit withstand. Product range: Ratings of 50kVA up to 10MVA

Single Phase Transformers
Kyte Powertech produces many thousands of single phase pole and platform mount transformers every year. Single phase distribution transformers are used mainly where suburban and rural electricity is distributed by single-phase overhead lines directly to consumers. The most basic tank design used is the cylindrical tank configuration with medium-voltage outdoor shedded bushings on the tank cover and low-voltage bushings also on the tank cover or alternatively on the tank side. In case of installation in areas with high isoceraunic levels, Kyte Powertech offers a steepwave design with improved impulse withstand. Product Range: • Up to 400KVA • Up TO 36kV
